Season 3 - Televsion History

To all dearest fans,

I have decided to break a thumb rule I instilled on my self when making this blog.  That is why I addressed this particular fan base as 'dearest'; I want to discuss actually plot points in the show.  I do this because I fell that, now with season four at its end, that season 3 is not as much of a mystery.  So don't be detrimental to your own pleasure and treat this as a spoiler for those who have not seen this.  You'll be loosing out big time, have of the fun is surprise!

I want to discuss the two last episodes of the third seasons, entitled "Half Measures" and "Full Measures."  These names are so beautifully descriptive, and pin point exactly why these two episodes can prove to anyone why Breaking Bad is on the top of all TV dramas.  I can recall one story that proves this case and point exactly:

Last year, living at my old house with five other friends, people were often on different schedules.  One of my roommates and I just finished up homework and decided to re-watch episode "Half Measures" after discussing our favorite scenes.  Three of our other roommates decided to drink that night, and barged into my room to ask us to join.  Already intoxicated, one of them was disappointed that we were watching TV instead of hanging out, and kept heckling the show he has only heard about it.  With about 10 minutes left to the episode, the heckling began to slowly stop as intensity built.  By the time Jesse was approaching the two corner drug dealers, gun in hand, no talking was present in the room.  Just as Jesse is about to engage in a suicidal shoot out, Walt drives into the scene running over both drug dealers.  This seeming as a cornered move first registered as a way to stop Jesse; defensive rather than offensive.  With one of the dealers already dead, and one severely crippled, Walt runs out of the car, grabs one of the dealer's guns and shoots the injured man.  Walt looks to Jesse and assertively says; "Run."
After this scene, my heckling roommate lets out a wide-eyed gasp, and quickly yells "IS THIS SHOW ALWAYS LIKE THIS?!"

Soon enough this roommate bought all three seasons and finished them promptly, turning him into a dedicated fan too.

I believe no other show can display the intensity behind a particular one scene, with out someone having to watch the whole season before hand (althought it helps in every regard). This is why Breaking Bad is, and should be considered the best television show in television history.

Next post: Full Measures.

Thanks!
