The End of the Best!

Vince Gilligan, creator and writer of both X-files and our favorite show, has been heavily accredited with the success and beauty of AMC's Breaking Bad.  Entering the fourth season, fans did not know what to expect, since Gilligan's contract with AMC and Sony is set to expire after four seasons.  Rumors had it that the show was in danger of ending just after our current and fourth season.  I find this hard to believe, since the show would end seemingly abruptly with the amount high amount of anticipation built up over the past seasons.

Now, however, everyone can relax.  AMC and Sony have held a public negotiation on the future of one of their most successful shows. Both AMC's and award winning actor, Bryan Cranston's, binding contracts were set to expire in August. This made the fifth season seem to be a very tough investment to make.  But no sweat!  Breaking Bad has been signed onto one more final season, with a hefty load of 16 full episodes!

AMC and Sony have agreed to split the season budget of over $3 million to back the fire of what will be a history shaking season.  Still, one thing goes unannounced: Gilligans contract.  I am willing to bet, however, that there is no chance of Gilligan leaving the show.  If AMC had an open, one sided contract negotiation, I am sure they would push for more than just one more season.  With Gilligan pushing his ideas into the terms of the contract, he is probably a driving force of ending the season after five flawless seasons.  Even though I will be sad parting ways with the show, I know this decision preserves the show's artistic integrity.  Another two seasons, and who knows, the writing could fall into a 'Lost' syndrome, with every episode transparently back tracking from the previous episode’s over-the-top cliff hanger.
I’m guessing this season will be the best of the series, following the exponential tendencies so far.  Keep tuned into the fourth season for now, and watch the emotional roller-coaster into the fifth and final season of Breaking Bad!

Thanks!
