Well well...
Season 4 is only two episodes from the end! And only here at episode 11, it already feels like its at a boiling point. Another point why Breaking Bad isnt another show that just saves up all intensity for one end of season cliff hanger. On top of that, the show is increasing at an increasing rate with intensity, plot progression, and now what i've appreciated more than ever: character development.
Some shows are really great, but rely too heavily on characters as their overall appeal, kind of like Showtime's Dexter. Dexter, as a character is great to watch, but he doesnt seem to progress with the plot, rather than adapting to the new scenarios thrown at him every season. To be more realistic, and there for (in my opinion) more gut wrenching, characters should change with the plot to help build attachment to the character as well as help build the plot itself.
Now to my point, in this season, Walt and Jesse have become far different than I ever thought they would end up as. Of course the point of the show is to watch Walter White break bad, but this is in such a heart breaking way, him being protagonist is almost heartbreaking. Jesse on the other hand, has become such a likable criminal. Although one only in the past two seasons, Gus has developed into one of the most complex and fun to watch characters. I have noticed a huge color representation with Gus as well, but that will be for another post! As well as my opinion on one of my new favorite characters: Mike!
