Well well...
Season 4 is only two episodes from the end! And only here at episode 11, it already feels like its at a boiling point. Another point why Breaking Bad isnt another show that just saves up all intensity for one end of season cliff hanger. On top of that, the show is increasing at an increasing rate with intensity, plot progression, and now what i've appreciated more than ever: character development.
Some shows are really great, but rely too heavily on characters as their overall appeal, kind of like Showtime's Dexter. Dexter, as a character is great to watch, but he doesnt seem to progress with the plot, rather than adapting to the new scenarios thrown at him every season. To be more realistic, and there for (in my opinion) more gut wrenching, characters should change with the plot to help build attachment to the character as well as help build the plot itself.
Now to my point, in this season, Walt and Jesse have become far different than I ever thought they would end up as. Of course the point of the show is to watch Walter White break bad, but this is in such a heart breaking way, him being protagonist is almost heartbreaking. Jesse on the other hand, has become such a likable criminal. Although one only in the past two seasons, Gus has developed into one of the most complex and fun to watch characters. I have noticed a huge color representation with Gus as well, but that will be for another post! As well as my opinion on one of my new favorite characters: Mike!

Breaking Bad on NetFlix!
Big, news everybody, Breaking Bad is now more accessible than ever. Probably the easiest and smartest way to watch movies and TV has added our dearly loved show to their database! That’s right! NetFlix has added Breaking Bad to their ‘instant queue.’ So get ready because this means big news for the show and its mark in television history!
The best part of this is that it is all three ground breaking seasons! Now there is no reason for all you, non-avid of watchers to catch up to the end of the third season. Because, as I have said before, this show’s intensity grows each season, there is not a season that you find worse compared to that before it. The last two episodes (which I find to be the two best episodes in tv history) is a goal to strive for. You’ll be sweating in front of your TV (or computer) trying to figure out how to watch the fourth season currently airing. Well don’t worry I have a solution for that one too: go to www.amazon.com and you can watch episodes from the fourth season already for a price that’s well worth it.
So now what to expect? Breaking Bad is an powerful show, but if you don’t start from the beginning it is very hard to take in the real magnificence of the show. Although characters are extremely developed and important, this show carries a fluid and progressive plot that is only noticeable to a viewer who started from the very first episode. My estimate is that the show will grow in popularity greatly. Every season fellow AMC show ‘Mad Men’ ranks higher than Breaking Bad in terms of viewers, but in each instance Breaking Bad is given much higher ratings. Mad Men truly is a good show, but now with Breaking Bad available to nearly anyone with an internet connection, this show is going to sky rocket.
I have a feeling the cast and crew of Breaking Bad will be in very high demand in no time. So go to www.netflix.com get an account, and show your friends!
Thanks again!

Halloween & Breaking Bad
That’s right! It is almost October; this means it’s time to start preparing for some sweet costumes. I usually try to get two costumes each Halloween, however, so far I only have one idea for this year. I believe one of the days I will be agent Fox Mulder (aka Spooky Mulder) from the X-Files, but still undecided on the other day.

Me as Walt! |
Last year I took my favorite character from my favorite childhood show, Dragon Ball Z; Gohan (ssj2). I looked pretty ridiculous and pretty much not at all like Gohan. The second night, however, I took my favorite character from my new favorite show: Walter White. This one I surprisingly pulled off, with a freshly shaved goatee and blue hazmat suit.
This year, I would still like to be someone from Breaking Bad, so I am going to try to shake out some ideas:
Badger – buy an oversized gross looking jacket, and possibly one of those hats with the two strings on the sides. On top of this, it would be sweet to hold the sign he has in one of the first interactions with Jesse. Also: talking with a really annoying voice is key. (Skinny P fits the same description for a possible costume).
Heisenberg – Different from dressing like Walt! Heisenberg is the conflicting character and criminal that you see Walt can portray. So get a weird top hat, ‘dad’ sunglasses, a green shirt and a black overcoat. To really pull it off, however, you have to act like a real criminal, cause again: this is different from being Walter White!
Im sure some more ideas will be around at the end of the fourth season, so stay tuned!
Thanks again!
The Color Palette of Breaking Bad... Again!
After researching and giving serious thought to the immense amount of color usage in Breaking Bad, I haven’t been able to help but keep thinking about the subject. The show is so heavily layered with color representation that I have decided another blog post is appropriate. Although not as rampant as Walt or Jesse’s character color coding, other characters still have their repetitive hues that help describe where the plot and that person is standing.
Skylar, although his wife, is for all sense of purposes, the overall protagonist for the show. Walt goes in and out of dealing with hardcore, scarier criminals, but his wife is always there causing conflict with Walt’s constant decision making. In the beginning of the series, Skylar can be seen wearing a lot of blues, this emphasizes her characteristic that is present in here name. Skylar as a character, combined with blue, can be easily correlated with the actual sky. This is significant and very representative: as I said before, Skylar is always there creating conflict for Walt, just how the sky is always constantly above us.

One thing I forgot to mention in my last post was an extra thought on Jesse Pinkman. I stated that criminality can be correlated with red, since he saw himself as a full-fledge criminal (which he finds later is not so much the case). So Jesse wearing red constantly shows his mindset, he displays himself as a criminal. However the color in his name is pink, he is a criminal, but he also has a lot of good traits within himself. Jesse, who has a less absolute mindset than Walt (who sees himself as good always: White) is constantly in conflict of identity between a good guy, and a bad guy: Pink, the mix of red and white.
One that I cannot so much figure out is the connection with Gus, and the color yellow. He can be seen in his light yellow dress shirt, usually when he is not displaying his criminal self. Somehow related and yet contradictory, Walt and Jesse’s hazmat suits are yellow while cooking for Gus. I plan to follow this relationship as we see more and more from Gus in this here fourth, and gut wrenching season.
Thanks again!

The Color Palette of Breaking Bad
To even the viewer who applies no abstract thought to Breaking Bad, one thing is still obvious in the show: the heavy emphasis on color. Even to the non viewer this is prevalent, if anyone has seen the promos for each season, Walt and Jesse’s hazmat suits are always different colors. However, the show plays with colors far more than this, and I believe is often dismissed and just perceived as part of the shows great cinematography.
Walter WHITE and Jesse PINKman are our two main characters, so what does white and pink mean to each of these characters? Well, devoted fans do have their theories. When first coming across Jesse as a character, a lot of red was prevalent around his character. We would wear a lot of red, had a red car, and a red cell phone, and most importantly aside from color; Jesse thought of himself as a criminal. Red = crime.
Walter is a good man at the beginning of our series, eventually this is not so much the case. BUT this is our protagonist, we see the story through mostly his eyes, so we always are rooting for him. White = goodness. Red and White together make pink; Jesse is the original bridge and medium between Walter and his criminal world.
Other color relations are not as pronounced while watching the show. Wardrobe is second to naming in these regards. One of the many is the progression of the colors Walt is seen in. First season, he is often wearing green, correlated with money. The reason Walt decided to cook meth, was to gain money for his family. Though in the second season, he is caught wearing pink, again halfway between goodness and criminality. This is when Walter was at an unstable and confused about where to go. Third season, however, as our protagonist is further into his criminal mindset, and starts wearing a lot of blue, which is the hue of his famous meth. So originally, Walt wearing green represents his mindset for being a criminal, originally money, but soon he starts wearing blue. This is when Walt ‘breaks bad’ and is in it for more than the money.
Keep tuned and watch for these beautifully layered hints!
Thanks!
Bryan Cranston Breaching a New Movie Career
Bryan Cranston, the 3-time consecutive Emmy winner, who plays Walt here on Breaking Bad, is diving head first into a movie career. After seeing Cranston ’s true skill showed through as Walter White, the actor who was at one time known as the eccentric dad from Malcolm in the Middle, is now getting rained in with offers of large big picture roles.
Set to premier in only three days from now, the first of the new streak of Cranston ’s movie streak is set to drop to the public. ‘Drive’ is about a stunt man who enters a subtarrenean world following after a girl whom he has fallen for. Eventually, ‘Diver’ the protagonist finds himself in trouble with a bounty on his head. Cranston plays the second to lead male role, Shannon , only under to that of Ryan Gosling as ‘Driver.’
Drive is tearing up the ratings too, holding it self as first place of opening movies with a whopping 94% on Rotten Tomatoes. (http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/drive_2011/) Look around on the internet and read up on this anticipated new movie, with our beloved Heisenburg.
This isn’t the climax of Cranston ’s new movie breach either. 2011 and 2012 alone, Cranston is confirmed to twelve movies, with another rumored. These movies are going to be huge too, including some about zombies, to the new Total Recall. World War Z, set to hit the box office in 2012 is the one I am most excited for. This is a semi-post apocalyptic zombie movie. On top of having one of the best actors on T.V., this movie has confirmed Brad Pitt as a co-star.
Keep an eye out forCranston ’s emerging movie career, and try to make it out to see ‘Drive’ this weekend!
Keep an eye out for
Check out the Trailer!

The End of the Best!
Vince Gilligan, creator and writer of both X-files and our favorite show, has been heavily accredited with the success and beauty of AMC's Breaking Bad. Entering the fourth season, fans did not know what to expect, since Gilligan's contract with AMC and Sony is set to expire after four seasons. Rumors had it that the show was in danger of ending just after our current and fourth season. I find this hard to believe, since the show would end seemingly abruptly with the amount high amount of anticipation built up over the past seasons.
Now, however, everyone can relax. AMC and Sony have held a public negotiation on the future of one of their most successful shows. Both AMC's and award winning actor, Bryan Cranston's, binding contracts were set to expire in August. This made the fifth season seem to be a very tough investment to make. But no sweat! Breaking Bad has been signed onto one more final season, with a hefty load of 16 full episodes!
AMC and Sony have agreed to split the season budget of over $3 million to back the fire of what will be a history shaking season. Still, one thing goes unannounced: Gilligans contract. I am willing to bet, however, that there is no chance of Gilligan leaving the show. If AMC had an open, one sided contract negotiation, I am sure they would push for more than just one more season. With Gilligan pushing his ideas into the terms of the contract, he is probably a driving force of ending the season after five flawless seasons. Even though I will be sad parting ways with the show, I know this decision preserves the show's artistic integrity. Another two seasons, and who knows, the writing could fall into a 'Lost' syndrome, with every episode transparently back tracking from the previous episode’s over-the-top cliff hanger.
I’m guessing this season will be the best of the series, following the exponential tendencies so far. Keep tuned into the fourth season for now, and watch the emotional roller-coaster into the fifth and final season of Breaking Bad!
Thanks!

New Breaking Bad blog and website!
Welcome!
You are officially on my new fan-based blog for the world's best TV show on air, to date: Breaking Bad. I am an avid, maybe even over-the-top fan of this jaw dropping show, and everything connected to it. If you are here reading this, you probably somewhat share the same opinion as me.
So here is my contribution to my favorite show:
I am going to run a fan blog and website, specifically made to bring other fans all over the world closer to related products, promotions, and the content of the show itself.
This may seem a little late to start such a project, seeing as we are 9 episodes into its fourth season. However, due to the amount of thought and time I put into Breaking Bad, I really need a healthy place to keep track of these thoughts, as well as doing my part to support the show! If for some reason, you are one of the unlucky people who has not been able watch seasons 1-3, I will give an extremely short, broad, and over simplified synopsis of the show:
Albuquerque, New Mexico is where our protagonist, Walter White lives in a modest house with his child and pregnant wife. Walt is a very talented chemist who has fallen into an underpaid teaching job at the local high school, teaching chemistry to uninterested teens. The White family is in financial trouble with a baby on the way, when a bombshell is dropped in their lives: Walt is diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. An obviously surreal experience, he seems to be fairly numb to the horrifying news. One thought does stay prevalent in Walt's mind, and that is providing for his family.
While on a ride along with his DEA agent brother in law, Walt sees one of his former 'slacker' students, Jesse Pinkman, just slipping past the law at a 'd.i.y.' meth lab. Walt ultimately decides to meet up with Jesse to ask him a strange favor, to be introduced in the the methamphetamine business. Walt wants to use his knowledge of chemistry to provide for his family before he passes on.
From here on the show follows Walter and Jesse through their free falling sprint into one of the most profitable illegal industries in the world. But more so, the plot is a slow progression of Walter White, an average man slipping deeper and deeper into the mindset of a full-time criminal; Walt, our protagonist, breaks bad.
For the rest: I highly suggest you go to www.amazon.com and order all of the seasons of Breaking Bad to get the full effect of this amazing show.
